Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970 - - April 9, 2021) also known as DMX was an American rapper and actor. His debut album It's Dark and Hot was released in 1998 to great critical and commercial success. It sold 251,000 copies during the first week. [5][6(6 DMX released his best-selling album, ... And Then There was X, in 1999, which included the smash single "Party Up (Up in Here)". His singles from 2003, "Where is the Hood At?" His 2003 singles, "Where the Hood at?" and "X Gon to Make It To Ya" were commercially successful. He was the first artist to make an album No.1 five times in consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 charts. 7. In 2006, he starred in the reality TV series DMX: Soul of a Man, which was primarily aired on the BET cable television network Never Die Alone. In 2003, he published a book of his memoirs entitled E.A.R.L. The Autobiography of DMX. 9 DMX started in the music business at age 14 as a beatboxer in Ready Ron. After getting a sentence for the stealing of a dog, he began to write his own lyrics. He also performed at a community recreation center that was for kids who were younger than 14. While being in prison for carjacking he began dedicating a large portion of his time writing lyrics. He also had a meeting and rapped with K-Solo. He began selling mixtapes that were produced and sold following he was released from prison for carjacking. This allowed him to build an following within New York. DMX made an appearance on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show in 1991 alongside Percee P, where they both performed freestyles.
